Autumn Apple STEM

Challenge your kids to be creative with apples designing structures at at the same time as eating a healthy snack.

  • Apples
  • A Knife
  • A Cutting Board
  • Woden Toothpicks

  1. Slice or chop your apples into irregular shapes and thickness.’
  2. Depending on age of child, you can either ask them to construct something simple like a tower, or ask them to recreate a building they know, such as a famous tower, bridge or castle.
  3. Kids can use the toothpicks as their fasteners and piece together their apples. Our challenge included 3 areas of scoring: structure, strength and stability that we scored each other on.
  4. Have fun constructing!

If you make apple chips first or paint with apples, you can use the ends of the apples or painted apples to create STEM masterpieces.
